Ross Sawyers (b. 1979, USA) investigates economic, environmental and sociopolitical issues through the concept of home. Often working in-studio with handmade models and complex constructions, Sawyers uses photography to fix and position these sometimes-precarious structures. With an MFA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts, Sawyers has built an intriguing practice in which the photograph is the final stage in an often hands-on process. Alongside his artistic work, Sawyers is an Associate Professor and Chair of Photography at Columbia College Chicago.
