“Combining playful irony with a more sinister dystopian edge, the constituent chapters of Discipula’s How Things Dream project examine the murky axis between technology and capitalism in contemporary s...“
Discipula continually explores our relationship with power, technology and capitalistic authority, most recently illuminating the growing convergence between big data corporatism and new age spirituality. Images, words and data are often manipulated and re-appropriated to create space for new interpretations and meanings. The collective is comprised of Marco Paltrinieri (b. 1978, Italy), Mirko Smerdel (b. 1978, Italy) and Tommaso Tanini (b. 1979, Italy). The trio have backgrounds in social psychology, visual art and photography respectively and as such, utilise a range of interdisciplinary practices. Discipula have self-published their own work and distribute printed material as well as holding regular workshops and lectures.
