Alix Marie

Paris, FR

Combining her skills as a sculptor and photographer, Alix Marie’s (b.1989, France) works render the human body as uncanny, beautiful, grotesque – or all three simultaneously. From enlarged close-ups of soft flesh, bruised or textured with wrinkles and hair, to three-dimensional sculptures made from crumpled paper, Marie breaks down body parts and transforms them into works that explore gender, human form, and the sculptural potential of photography. Marie lives and works in London, where she studied a Bachelors at Central Saint Martins and a Masters at the Royal College of Art.
