The work of Felicity Hammond (b. 1988, England) is concerned with the rapidly changing urban landscape of her hometown, London. Photography, sculpture, and installation are all tools with which the city is reimagined by the artist, who prints her images on an inventive array of materials, such as acrylic, rubber, wood, and concrete. Particular attention is paid to the tension between the city’s industrial past and its continuous redevelopment, which Hammond explores by digitally manipulating photographs, which mimic and subvert those used in advertisements by luxury housing developers. Her most recent work considers the influence of digital technology on the global image of the city, whilst reflecting on the local history of London City Island.
